With its unique nanostructure and surface properties, it can significantly improve the production process and product quality of drug formulations.

Mechanism and Advantages as a Glidant:

Mechanism:

Nanoscale particles of fumed silica can be uniformly adsorbed on the surface of drug particles, forming a smooth isolation layer, significantly reducing friction and electrostatic force between particles, thereby greatly improving powder flowability.

Advantages:

  • Excellent flow improvement effect achieved with extremely low addition levels (usually 0.1%-1.0%)
  • Effectively improves the flowability of poorly flowing materials
  • Increases tablet compression speed and production efficiency
  • Reduces tablet weight variation and improves product uniformity

Mechanism:

Fumed silica has an extremely high specific surface area and porous structure, which can quickly absorb water and form capillary channels, driving rapid water penetration into tablet cores and accelerating the tablet disintegration process.

Recommended Usage Methods:

  • Glidant: Usually added in the final mixing stage, addition level 0.1%-1.0%
  • Disintegrant: Can be used internally, externally, or a combination of both, addition level 0.5%-3.0%
  • It is recommended to determine the optimal addition level and method through experiments
