Safety and Compliance of Food-Grade Silicon Dioxide: Full-Dimensional Guarantee from National Standards to International Certifications

The safety of food-grade silicon dioxide is the prerequisite for its application, which needs to meet the dual requirements of domestic standards and international certifications at the same time.

The safety of food-grade silicon dioxide is the prerequisite for its application, which needs to meet the dual requirements of domestic standards and international certifications at the same time. At the domestic level, GB 2760 clarifies its application scope and limits (e.g., ≤0.2% in table salt), and GB 1886.246 requires SiO₂ content ≥99.0% and the limit of heavy metals (lead, arsenic) ≤10mg/kg. At the international level, it needs to pass the FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) certification of the United States and the E551 approval of the European EFSA, and exports to the EU also need to comply with the FAMI-QS standard.

The core support for safety lies in its physical and chemical properties: its amorphous structure makes it not absorbed by the digestive system after oral administration, and 100% excreted with feces without accumulation risk. However, the particle size must be strictly controlled to avoid the possible lung deposition risk of nano-scale particles. The particle size of the Company's products is controlled above 5μm, which has been verified by inhalation toxicity tests.

The Company has significant compliance advantages: it has established a "standard database" to customize product indicators for different export regions - products exported to the United States comply with FDA 21 CFR 182.8946 standard, and products exported to Europe have passed the EFSA safety assessment; each batch of products is accompanied by a "compliance test report" covering 18 indicators such as heavy metals, microorganisms, and particle size distribution, helping food enterprises quickly pass customs inspection and customer audit.
